If you observe the main features beloging to Hindu dharma, you will see – “Omkara moola mantradhyaha – Punarjanma sadasayah – Veda go pratima sevee” – It means a Hindu is the one who has Omkaram as the “moola mantra” (basic holy mantra for chanting) believes in the doctrine of punarjnama, has the nature of following good custom and practices, follows the Hindu literature like the Vedas, cow worship and worship of Idol. In this book, devine articles explaining each of these special features are written.

There is a comment about Hindu religion that we have several gods and there is no unity. The article on “Omkara” is an answer to that comment. All gods have originated from Omkaram. That is why before the worship of any deity, Omkaram has to be chanted first. By chanting omkaram, several healthy and spiritual benefits accrue to us. Please read the essay with the caption “Omkaram” which has all the things in totality. The one feture which only Hindu dharma has preached and other religions do not accept, is the doctrine of rebirth (‘punarjnma‘). In India and other countries, we are coming across several evidences which prove our doctrine as the real one. Foriegners, after conducting several researches are agreeing with this. Apart from the evidences in the ancient books, results of modern researches are also made know to you in this.

Next topic is “Sadacharam” (observance of good customs and traditions). From the times immemorial, our elders have been teaching us about several traditions. Those are the ones which gives us good health and longevity. If we leave then, it is our loss only, certain superstitious practices also have set in this Sadacharam during the course of time. It is our bad only if we practice them, simply because they were recommended by our elders. So we have to know which are the good pracices and which are the blind ones. The article on this Sadacharam contains as to how we can make our human birth (which is impossible to get) worthwhile, what are the methods and practices which are to be followed right from getting up from bed in the morning till we sleep in the night, the evidences there for in our dharma sastras, the health matters, spiritual behaviour implied in them and the significant principles of yoga, and health implied in “tilaka dharana” (putting a mark on the forehead).

In the article named ‘Hindu Literature‘ – its significance, information relating to various aspects of vedic knowledge like the significance of veda, ancillary Vedas, like Ayurveda, Dhanurveda, ghandharva Veda and Artha Veda, things in those vedas as affirmed by the modern science, special things in Ithihasa. Puranas and sastras which propund the veda dharmas, the modern scientific trends which are following the path shown by the sages in Agamas (scriptures), Ganita (mathematics), Khagola (astronomy), Vimana (aeronautics) and other physical sciences are made available to the readers.

For Hindus, cow is very important. In the article ‘Cow, the Mother‘ various matters relating to cow like the reason for its significance, importance of Panchagavya (cow’s milk, ghee, curd, urine and dung), how the word ‘Telugu’ is derived from cow, the significant place given to the cow in the vedas and puranas, various utilities of cow, medical benefits, campaign for ban on cow slaughter, terrible violence caused to cow, divinity of ow, stories about cow, opinions expressed by prominent people about cow, our duty towards cow and method of worshipping cow are detailed.

The eighth article is ‘Idolatry – Institution of Temple‘. This is one of the basic priniciples of the Hindu dharma contents of this article are Swami Vivekananda’s proving to Alwar king that idol worship is proper, how we cannot say that there is no life in a rock as per the science, pros and cons of Idol worship, saguna aradhana (worship of God in a form), nirguna aradhana (worship of formless God), differences in divine forms, forms of worship among them, importance of faith, daily and special services to God, temples, evidences, scientifically significant things, today’s
condition of temples, out duty and others. This way by reading all the basic things in Hindu dharma, one can become a true Hindu, justifying the name.

Next comes the ninth article ‘Hinduism in the direction of self-destuction‘. Several important things like the dangerous conditions in which Hinduism is placed, the reasons for it, whether we are responsible directly and indirectly for pushing the Hindu dharam into danger, by whom in our community harm is caused to the dharma and other important things are discussed. Unless we know the disease, we cannot treat it. By getting total understanding of this dharma, we can protect it by not becoming harmful to our own dharma and be able to help others to sustain and protect this dharma.

It is enough if you read this book and make your family members also read this book. All your family members experience Hindu renaissance. Several mental weaknesses will be wiped out. Solution will be available for all problems. To say in a word, the message which you want to give would reach the concerned in the required form. We conduct ourselves with dharmic faith during our childhood due to respect and fear towards our elders and in our old age due to maturity and certain experiences. But in youth, people think that they are logical in their approach and consider their half knowledge as the complete one and get themselves sacrificed to unfortunate bad preachings. So things of dharma should be made known to them in the proper protection. If it does not happen, there is the likelihood of the danger of their lives and also their successive generations moving away from our religious dharmas. If we do not give good thoughts to them in that stage and leave them free on the plea that all these things should be taught to them at this stage, very dangerous thoughts, even without our knowledge enter their minds. Afterwards there would be nothing we can do. So we should create opportunity to the youth to read this book. Swami Vivekanda said “Uttishtata! Jagrata, prapya vanannibodhata”. “Get up! Be wakeful! Understand the best things and teach the society”. Let us listen to his call. Let us know the good, do good what we can and make our lives hallowed ones. (To be continued….)
