Explanation of the Revered Hanumanmālāmantra

(Sri Hanumanmālāmantra Vivaranamm)

श्रीमैत्रये :
पंचास्यहनुमन्मालामंत्रं मे वद सद्गुरो! ।। 1

Great Sage Mytrēya:

Oh! Revered Guru! Please tell me about the divine Pancamukha Hanumanmālā mantra”. (1)

श्रीपराशर:
सरहस्यं प्रवक्ष्यामि ब्रह्मविष्ण्वीशकल्पितम्
पार्वत्यै च पुराप्रोक्तं शंकरेण महात्मना
मैत्रेय तत्प्रवक्ष्यामि त्रूणुष्वानन्यमानस:।। 2

Seer Parāśara:

Oh! Mytrēya! I am explaining even the secret aspects. His (Lord Hanumān’s) reality (physical and spiritual nature) is created from the essences of Brahma, Vişņu and Mahĕśwara. This was very earlier told by Śankara Mahadĕva to his consort Pārvati. Listen with attention. (2)

श्रीकराकारदृड्र्मूर्ते मोहिताखिलमूर्तये
स्त्रीपुंसमाय महते परेशाय नमो नम:।। 3

I reverentially bow to the Supreme Being (parātpara), who possesses a benevolent vision and to the male (puruşa) and female (prakŗuti) natures equally that can greatly affect every one and everything. (3)

वागर्धसृष्टिविषये सूरवैरिनिबर्हणे
रामदृक्पद्मरवये भविष्यद्ब्रह्मणे नम:।। 4

I reverentially bow to Hanumān, the cause of building of the ‘words’ and their meaning, one who neutralizes demons, who is like the Sun to the lotus-like eyes of Rāma, and the would be Brahma of the future. (4)

तद्रहस्यमिदं मंत्रं सांगं सम्यग्ब्रवीमि ते
तं त्रूणुष्वेकचित्तेनगुह्म्मिष्टार्थदं मुने।। 5

Oh! Great sage! Mytrĕya! I am telling you the whole of this secret mantra along with all its parts (Ańga). Listen, with single-minded devotion, this mantra that gives secret and wished boons. (5)

मंत्रोद्धारं च यंत्रं च छन्दर्षिन्यासदेवता:
मंत्रसंग्रहमेवास्यपुरश्चर्याक्रमं पुन:।। 6

Genesis of that mantra and its amulet (yantra), metre (chandas), seer (ŗşi), body-touching (ańganyāsa), hand gesticulations (karaanyāsa) and the lord (dĕvtā); essence of the mantra and procedure of its repetitive cycles (puraścaryā), (6)

नित्यमंत्रक्रमं चा पि प्रयोगस्य पृथक्पृथक्
तत्तदासनभेदांश्च मानकालफलान्यपि।। 7

Order of the dialy routine mantra recitation, different types of its utilisations (prayōgāh), different types of sitting posture differences (āsanabhĕda), discipline rules, time (of recitation), fruit of the mantra (mantraphala), (7)

हवनक्रममेवांगकलशैरभिषेचनम्
कालविज्ञानमानस्यविभूतियोगमेव च।। 8

Method of performing fire sacrifice, method of pouring-washing from appropriate pots (kalaśābhişĕka), state of richness attained by reciters of this mantra with appropriate time sense (samayagńyata). (8)

स्वस्वपरूपानुसंधानमेव ये त्र सन्ति वा
सर्वानेतान् क्रमान् लक्ष्ये विविच्यैव पृथक्पृथक्।। 9

I will narrate whatever ‘linking one’s form’ (swaswarūpānu sandhānam)’ and other special features that may be there, in proper order and separately. (9)

त्रूणुष्वावहितो भूत्वा सम्यवग्वक्ष्यामि पार्वति
आपदुद्धारकं दिव्यं अयत्नफलदं नृणाम्।। 10

Who can Practice this Mantra?

(Śiva had said to his consort) ‘Oh! Pārvati! I am narrating all the above things with great attention. Listen. This protects from all calamities, auspicious and gives result even without trying. (10)

सर्वेषां चैव लोकानां साधनं त्वभिलाषितं
विशेषतो नृपाणां च शत्रुविद्रावकं महत्।। 11

It can be practiced by all people. Desirable for all. It is especially good for kings in destroying enimies. (11)

स्तम्भनोच्चाटनोद्धारं शांतिप्रज्ञाविवर्धनं
अंगन्यासकरन्यासदेहन्याससमन्वितम्।। 12

Contents & Impact of this Mantra

It is good for stopping all evils in their stride, to throw away ghosts, and for developimg peace and knowledge. It comprises of body-part touching (ańganyāsa), hand gesticulations (karanyāsa) and body postures (dĕhaanyāsa). (12)

नवन्याससमायुक्तं सांगावरणपूर्वकम्
बहुमंत्राान्वितं यंत्र मूलमंत्रपुरस्सरम्।। 13

It includes nine types of nyāsa (postures and movements) and coverages of body parts. It has an amulet (yantra) full of many mantras and a moola (root or basic) mantara. (13)

प्रत्यर्थिकृतमंत्राग्नि यंत्राद्यामयनाशनम्
पापशोकप्रशमनं सर्वशत्रुविमर्दनम्।। 14

It neutralises the (evil) mantras and tantras (sacrificial acts) that enemies may let loose on, removes sin and grief and capable of destroying all enemies’ (14)

ज्वरापस्माररोगााणां क्षयादीनां विशेषत:
नाशनं स्मृतिमात्रेण मंत्रराजप्रभावत:।। 15

Just by the influence of remembering this king of mantras, fevers, swoons, maladies and tuberculosis and others disappear. (15)

राजचोरग्रहादीनां शमनं सुखवर्धनम्
चित्तशुद्धिकरं मोक्षदायकं सर्वसिद्धिकम्।। 16

This mantra gives relief from fear from kings, thieves and ill-omened planets (as per astrology). Increases happiness and mental peace, besides bestowing all achievements (sarvasiddhi) and liberation (mōkşa). (16)

रहस्यातिरहस्यं श्रीकरं त्रैलोक्यदुर्लभम्
स्नेहाद्वक्ष्यामि ते मंत्रं मंत्रसारं च ते प्रिये।।17

My Darling! Because you are very dear to me, I am telling you about this mantra that is very secret and nay impossible to obtain in the Three Worlds. (17)

मामकं प्रियमत्यन्तं सर्वोकृष्टमनुत्तमम्।
सर्वकामार्थदं राज्यभोगश्रीकरमुत्तमम्।। 18

(This is) Very very pleasant to me, the greatest of all, bestower of all wishes, the best that gives kingly riches. (18)

अवितक्र्यमनिर्देश्यं देवदावनदुर्लभम्
अविकास्यमिदं मंत्रं सर्वशक्तिदमद्भुतम्।। 19

It can be debated, it can dictate, not available to even Gods and demons and can enlighten lucidly, this mantra gives all wonderful powers. (19)

स्मरणादेव नश्यंति भूतप्रेतपिशाचका:
विद्रवंति भयाद्भ्रांता: शक्रस्येवासुरादय:।। 20

By just reciting it, spirits, ghosts and devils will be frightened and run away, just liken demons running away from Indra out of fear. (20)

पठेद्वा धारयेद्धन्ते पूजयेद्वापि पुस्तके
चौराग्निजं भयं नास्ति बालरोगग्रहादिकम्।। 21

There will be no fear of thieves, fire or infant ailments, if this mantra is read or heard or book containing it is worshiped. (21)

नास्ति मारीभयं तत्र सर्वतस्सुखमाप्नुयात्
आयुरारोग्यमैश्वर्यं पुत्रपौत्रादिसंपदम्।। 22

There will be no threat of epidemics where this mantra is; there will be happiness everywhere. Long life, health, wealth, son-grandson and other riches (22)

लभंते जातकस्यास्य पुस्तकस्या·पि पूजनम्
मंत्रयंत्रादिसंहारमपमृत्युं तरिष्यति।। 23

Can be obtained through it. Worship of this mantra book eliminates threats from evil mantras and yantras (amulets) and untimely death. (23)

कालमृत्युमतिक्रम्य जीवेद्युक्तायुषं नरा:
यो नित्यं जपते तस्य सम्यग्वक्ष्यामि तत्फलम्।। 24

People can even overcome untimely death using this mantra and live to desired age. I am now telling the results that can be obtained by regular recitation of this mantra. (24)

सेवका इव भूपाला: दासीजन इवांगना:
वश्या भवंति चावश्यं पलायते च शत्रव:।। 25

Fruits (phalam) if this Mantra

One can definitely get control of kings as servants and of queens as maids. Enemies will run away out of fear. (25)

न चौरादिभयं तत्र नास्ति व्याधिमृगाद्भयम्
लाभास्ते सिद्धयस्सर्वविधा हनुमदाज्ञया।। 26

There will not ne any fear of bandits, diseases and wild animals. By the grace of Hanumān, one can gain everything and every attainement (siddhi). (26)

नाभिदध्नजले सम्यक् जपेद्वा सिद्धिमाप्नुयात्
अयुतं जपतस्तस्य भवेद्वै बंधमोक्षणम्।। 27

It will fructify if recited standing in water up to the level of navel. One will get freed from all bindings on reciting it 10,000 times. (27)

सलोककामदं सद्य: त्रूणृ पंचदशाक्षरम्
एतद्विज्ञानमात्रेण सर्वशत्रुजयं भवेत्।। 28

Listen to the 15-lettered (pańcadaśākşrī) mantra that fulfills all the worldly wishes. Just by knowing this, one can win over enemies’. (28)

सर्वैश्वर्यकरं ह्र्द्यं सर्वकामप्रदं नृणाम्
खेचरत्वादिघटकं चादृश्यसिद्धिरांजनम्।। 29

It gives all types of wealth. It is dear to one’s heart. Fulfills all wishes of people. Gives powers to move around in the sky, unseen powers, power of future-vision (anjanam), (29l)

मृतसंजीवनं पादुकागतिं च ददात्यसौ
पंचवक्त्रस्य हनुमानुत्तनुष्ठानकारिण:।। 30

Ability to revive the dead (mŗtasanjīvana) and travel-in-sandals (pādukāgatam) is bestowed upon followers of this mantra by the five-faced (pańcavaktra) Hanumān. (30)

तस्मात्सर्वप्रयत्नेन यंत्रोद्धारणपूर्वकम्
मंत्रस्वरूपं विज्ञाय यंत्रं चा पि विशेषत:।। 31

So, by learning with supreme efforts, incorporating the amulet-establishment (yantrōddhāra pūrvakam), incorporating form of the mantra (mantraswarūpakam); especially knowing the features of the amulet (yantra), (31)

हनुमन्मनुमुख्येषु सर्वकामार्थसिद्धये
इममेव परं जप्यं मंत्रराज: मयोच्चते।। 32

This is the best of all Hanumān mantras to be recited for getting fulfilled all the wishes. Such a ‘best among the mantras’ is being explained by me. (32)

अथेदानीं जगत्पूज्यं पंचवक्त्रहनूमत:
पंचाक्षरीमहामंत्रं षट्पल्लवसमन्वितम्।। 33

The Mantra Nature

The Pańcmukhi (Five-Faced) Hanumān pańcākşarī (five-lettered) mantra, that is universally worshipped, is told (See Chapter 19) to comprise of the Six Exclamations (şaţpallavāh) – namh, vaşaţ, khēkhē, humm, vouşaţ, phaţ. (33)

हरिं नृसिंहं पक्षींद्रंः वराहं तुरगाननम्
षट्पल्लवेन संयुक्तं मंत्रमिष्टार्थदं नृणाम्।। 34

Comprising of the Six Exclamations and the faces of vānara (monkey), narasimha (half man-half lion), garuda (The Great Eagle, the vehicle of Vişņu), varāha (the boar incarnation of Vişņu) and aśwa (horse, i.e., Hayagreeva the lord of knowledge); it fulfills all the desires of the people. (34)

पंक्तिश्छंद: ऋषिस्तस्य ईश्वर: परिकीर्तित:
देवता पंचवक्त्राख्या हनुमान्बीजमैश्वरम्।। 35

For this mantra, it was told, that the metre (chandhas) is pankti (stanza of a hymn), the sage is Ēśwara (Śiva), the (worshipped) god is Pańcmukhi (Five-Faced) Hanumān. The seed or root is again Ēśwara, (35)

नृसिंह: शक्तिरित्युक्ता फट्कीलकमुदीरितम्
करांगन्यासमेवास्य मंत्रेणैव सुविन्यसेत्।। 36

Nŗusimha (man-lion) is the power (śakti) and the Exclamation ‘phat’ is the key (keelakam). The body-touchings (ańganyāsa) and hand grdticulations (karanyāsa) are told with this mantra itself. (36)

शिरोवदनह्र्त्कुक्षि गुह्म्व्यापकमाचरेत्
मंत्राक्षरविधानस्य न्यासं सम्यक्प्रकीर्तितम्
दिग्बंधनं तु पूर्वेण ध्यायेद् देवं समीहित:।। 37

The ambience of the mantra has to be spread into the head, face, heart and the secret parts. A lot of body touching (nyāsa) was described for this mantrākşara methodology. As told earlier, after drawing a protective circle (digbandhana), one has to meditate on Hanumān. (37)

ध्यानम्
वंदे वानरनारसिंहखगराट् क्रोडाश्ववक्त्रांचितं
नानालंकरणं त्रिपंचनयनं देदीप्यमानं रुचा ।। 38

Dhyāna (Meditation)

I bow to the One having the Five Faces of – the Monkey, the Man-lion, the great Eagle, the wild Boar and the Horse; One with numerous ornaments; One having 3 x 5 eyes (three in each face); shining with divine radiance, holding a sword, a shield, a book, a nectar pot, an elephant goad, a hill, a plough, a cot supporting stump (khatvāngam), a snake and a tree in the hands’ (38)

हस्ताब्जैरसिखेटपुस्तकसुधा-कुंभांकुशाद्रीन् हलं
खट्वांगं फणिभूरुहं च दधतं गर्वारिदैत्यापहम्।। 39

The Mantras

I am telling you another mantra – saying ‘swāhā’ at the end, ‘Ōmm’ in the beginning, say ‘ hari markata markatāya; in the middle. (39)

अथ मंत्रांतरं वक्ष्ये स्वाहान्तं प्रणवादि
हरिमर्कटमर्कटाय
छंदोमात्रं तु जगती पृथगुक्तं महेश्वरी
भेदमवेहि मंत्रस्य तत्सर्वं पूर्वमंत्रवत्।। 40

Oh! Pārvatī! The metre of this is known as the special jagatī. That is the main difference for this mantra. Every thing else is like in the previous mantras. (40)

एवं ध्यात्वा जपेन्मंत्रं नवलक्षमिमं प्रिये!
पुरश्चर्याक्रमं चागे्र ह्रुच्यते सर्वसंग्रह:।। 41

Oh! Pārvatī! After meditating like this, the mantra has to be recited 900,000 times. The repetition cycles (puraścharya) will be explained ahead. (41)

अथ मंत्रातंरं वक्ष्ये पंचवक्त्रहनूमत:
प्रत्यर्थिकारितास्यास्य श्रृँखलस्य विभेदत:।। 42

I am now telling another pańcamukha hanumadmantra that breaks the schakles put up by the enemy as the result. (42)

आदौ प्रर्णवमुच्चार्य हरिकर्मटमर्कट:
मर्कटाय पदं चोक्त्वा परिलिख्यति लिख्यते।। 43

Saying first ‘‘Ōmm’, then saying ‘hari markata markatāya; then saying ‘parilikhyati likhyati’(tears around, around), (43)

ततो भूमितलेत्युक्त्वा यदि नश्यति नश्यति
ततो वामकरेत्युक्त्वा प्रतिमुंचति मुंचति।। 44

Then (say) ‘bhūmitalĕ’ (on the earth), then ‘yadi naśyati naśyati’ (if gets lost), and after that say ‘prati muncati muncati’ (gets freed off), (44)

अथ श्रृंखलिकां चोक्त्वा मंत्रमेवं पठेद्यदि
अष्टोत्तरसहस्त्रेण श्रुंश्खलान्मुच्चते नर:।। 45

Then (say) ‘sŗnkhalikām’ (the fetters); reciting the mantra thus 1008 times will free one from schackles’. (45)

मासत्रितयमुद्दिश्यपठते नियतं पुमान्
नामधेयपदंक्षिप्त्वा तद्रिपून्नाशयेधु्रवम्।। 46

A named enemy of a man is neutralised if this is recites methodically for three months. (46)

षट्कोणे रिपुमालिख्य कोणेष्वनलसंभवान्
बीजान्विलिख्य तद्बाह्मो वायुबीजं समालिखेत्।। 47

One has to draw a hexagon (six-sided polygon), write the fire seed (agnibeeja) ‘ramm’ and the wind seed (vāyubeeja) ‘yamm’ just outside (the angle). (47)

अंगारेणैव संलिख्य तद्यंत्रोपरिसंस्थित:
मासमात्रं जपेन्मत्रं रिपुं नाशयति धु्रवम।। 48

One standing on such an amulet-drawing (yantra), drawn even with coal, for a month; will definitely win over the enemies. (48)

अथेदानीं प्रवक्ष्यामि पंचवक्त्रहनूमत:
मंत्रोत्पत्तिं च छंदर्षिदेवताशक्तिकीलकान्।। 49

I am now telling about the metre, sage, lord, power and key of the mantra of the pańcamukhānjańĕya. (49)

बीजं दिग्बंधनं चापि तत्प्रयेागपराक्रमान्
सतारकसितं चादौ समुच्चार्यारिमर्दनम्।। 50

I am telling the seed, the protective ring (digbhandha), usage of the mantra and special feature. First the letters of the name of the saviour ‘Hari’ has to be said, then uttering the word ‘arimardana’ (enemy conquering), (50)

संबोधनपदं चोक्त्वा मर्कटायेति चोच्चरेत्
सपंचवक्त्रो हनुमान् देवता परिकीर्तित:।। 51

Then saying a hailing word (like ! = Oh!), followed by ‘markaţāya’ (for the monkey lord). The Lord or God for this mantra is the Five-Faced Hanumān Himself. (51)

वराहबीजमुच्चार्य षट्पदं समुदीरयेत्
योजयेद्वह्नजायां तु एषा पंचदशाक्षरी।। 52

Then the Lord Boar-Seed (varaha beeja) and the six exclamations (şatpallava) have to be said. Afterwards, if ‘swāhā’ is said, it will be the pańcākşarī (five-lettered) mantra. The ‘Ōmm hari arimardana markaţāya gloum phat swāhā’, (52)

अस्य छंदो मृतविराडीश्वरो ऋषिरुच्चते
सपंचवक्त्रो हनुमान् देवता परिकीर्तिता:।। 53

The meter is of amŗta virāţ type with the Supreme Being (Ēśwara) as the sage (ŗşi), Five-Faced Hanumān is the Lord-God. (53)

बीजं च शिवबीजं स्याच्छक्तिस्याद्दहनांगनाम्
नवत्रिषट्पदं चैव कीलकं समुदीरितम्।। 54

It was told that Śiva is the seed, swāhā the powwr, the word ‘navātrişat’ the (keelakam). (54)

शत्रुसंहार एवास्य विनियोगमुदाह्म्तम्।
षड्भि: मंत्रपदैन्र्यास द्वयं मंत्रांगमूलत:।। 55

This mantra is told to be ‘śatrusamhārē viniyōgah (used for enemy neutralisation). Along with the words of the mantra, two of the six body-touching (ańganyāsa) and hand gesticulations (karanyāsa) have to be performed. (55)

कृत्वा दिग्बंधनं पश्चादक्षरन्यासमाचरेत्
उत्पत्तिस्थितिसंहार न्यासान् कुर्याद्विचक्षण:।। 56

First performing the digbhandhana (creating protective ring), akşaranyāsa (touching-divinizing the body with letters of the Sanskrit alphabet). Touching (nyāsa) of the (56)

मूलमंत्राक्षरेणैवं मूलवर्णस्य सक्रमात्
शिरोललाटनेत्रास्यकंठह्म्न्नभिगुह्नाके।। 57

Thought provoking (utpatti), establishing (sthiti) and liquidating (samhāra) types have to be performed.(57)

भुजपाश्र्वे च पादे द्वे सर्वेण व्यापकं न्यसेत्
न्यासमेवं क्रमात्कृत्वाध्यायेद् रुद्रात्मकं हरिम्।। 58

With the letters of the root mantra (moolamantrākşara) irself touch head, forehead, eyes, throat, heart, navel, secret places, in that order, (58)

ध्यानम्
ध्यायेद्वानरनारसिंहखगराट्क्रोडाश्ववक्त्रांचितं
फालाक्षस्फुटपंचवक्त्ररुचिरं बालार्ककोटिद्युतिं
हस्तैश्शूलकपालमुद्गरहलं कौमोदकीं भूरुहं
खट्वांगाकुशपाशपर्वतधरं पीतांबरं वानरम्।। 59

Sides of shoulders, the two feet have to be touched (nyāsa). After performing orderly nyāsa, the Rudra (Śivaa-farm Hanumān) has to be meditated upon as follows. (59)

पंचवक्त्रं महाभीमं त्रिपंचनयनैर्युतम्
दशभिर्बाहुभिर्युक्तं सर्वकामार्थसिद्धिदम्।। 60

Bow to the best of the monkeys, radiant with the faces of monkey, man-lion, eagle, boar and horse; resplendent with the brightness of (additional) eye on the forehead of the five faces; possessing holding in hand bright like that of 10 million early morning Suns, the spear, skull, hammer, plough, mace, tree, leg of a wooden cot, elephant goad, a binding rope; holding mountains and wearing green clothes’.(60)

पूर्वं तु वानरं वक्त्रं ह्र्दयं सूर्यसन्निभम्
सूर्यकोटिकराभासं कपिवस्त्रं सुतेजसम्।। 61

Having Five Faces, a very freightening (countenance), 3×5 eyes (three each in the five faces), ten shoulders, fulfiller of all wishes, (61)

दंष्ट्राकरालवदनं भुकुटीकुटिलेक्षणम्
अस्य प्रदक्षिणं वक्त्रं नारसिहं महाद्भुतम्।। 62

Having the monkey faace towards the East, with a heart equivalent to the Sun, shining like 10 million Sun rays, the monkey face being very radiant, (62)

अत्युग्रतेजोज्वलितं भीषणं भयनाशनम्
पश्चिमं गारुडं वक्त्रं वज्रतुंडं महाबलम्।। 63

With a fearful canine teethed face, seeing with the eyebrows knotted (angry), to its south, with a wonderful man-lion face, (63)

सर्वरोगप्रशमनं विषभूतनिवारणम्
उत्तरं सूकरं वक्त्रं कृष्णदीप्तं नभोनिभम्।। 64

Towards the west, the diamond sharp beaked eagle face, with very great sheen, frightening, (yet) powerful to remove fear, (64)

पाताले सिद्धिदं नृणां ज्वररोगादिकृंतनम्
ऊर्ध्व हयाननं घोरं दानवांतकरं परम्।। 65

The boar face towards the north that drives away all types of ailments, that neutralises poisons and ghosts, black bodied and equivalent to the sky (i.e., very large), (65)

येन वक्त्रेण विप्रेंद्र सर्वविद्या विनिर्ययु:
एतत्पंचमुखं तस्य ध्यायतामभयंकरम्।। 66

With a fearsome Horse Face at the top, that gives people achievement of the subterranian world, remover of feavers and diseases, capable of destroying the demons, (66)

खड्गं त्रिशूलं खट्वांगं पाशमंकुशपर्वतौ
दु्रमं कौमोदकीं मुंडं दधानं हलमुत्कटम्।
द्वौ मुष्टिसंगतौ मुघ्र्नि सायुधैर्दशभिर्जुजै:
एतान्यायुधजालानि धारयंतं यजामहे।। 67

Oh! Mytrēya! Every type of knowledge can be learnt from this Horse Face. His (Hanumān’s), such protection assuring Five Faces have to be contemplated upon (dhyāna). (67)

दिव्यमाल्यांबरधरं दिव्यगंधानुलेपनम्
पीतांबरधरं देवं दिव्याभरणभूषितम्।। 68

Dhyānam

I am worshipping the God that holds a swaord, trident, leg of wooden cot, binding rope, elephant goad, hill, tree, mace, skull and plough weapons in the ten hands, (68)

प्रेतासनोपविष्टं तं पंचवक्त्रधरं विभुम्
विनियोगकरं विश्वं मोहनं सर्वसाधनम्।। 69

The God that wears auspicious garlands, saffron coloured clothes, the body covered with good quality sandal paste, wearing very nice ornaments, (69)

सर्वरोगप्रशमनं सर्वपापहरं गुरुम्
सर्वशत्रुक्षयकरं सर्वसामथ्र्यदायकम्।। 70

Seated on a dead body, one having five faces, one always intent on helping others, the most beautiful one in the universe, the one that can achieve everything, (70)

पंचवक्त्रहनूमंतं सर्वलोकैकपूजितम्
एवं ध्यात्वा जपेन्मन्त्रं प्रत्यहं नियत: पुमान्।। 71

One who removes all ailments, capable of neutralizing all sins, one who gives capacity to destroy all enemies, (71)

अष्टोत्तरसहस्रेण चापमृत्युं तरिष्यति
किं वक्त्व्यमिहैवान्ये प्रणश्यन्ति क्षुधामया:।। 72

The one and only five-faced pańcamukha Hanumān that is worth worsahipping in all the worlds’; thus a man must meditate on Him daily and onlyn then recite the mantra. (72)

पापंसघा: प्रणश्यन्ति चैकावृत्तैवतत्क्षणात्।। 73

Phalasruthi (Fruition of the mantar)

It protects from untimely death, if recited 1008 times and, undoubtedly, controls hunger and diseases.(73)

वानप्रस्थो गृही भिक्षु: अज्ञानाद्गुरुदूषक:
अनुत्तमन्त्रजापी च सुरापी स्वर्णवंचक:
द्विरावृत्या च तत्पापं हरत्येव न संशय:।। 74

All the accumulated sins will be removed the moment one routine (āvŗtti) performance is completed. (74)

बुद्धिपूर्वं कृतौघेषु ग्रस्तो थ गुरुतल्पग:
भू्रणहा गुरुनिंदार्थी मित्रघ्नो गुरुवंचक:
त्रिवाराभ्यासमात्रेण पापराशिं क्षणाद्द्हेत्।। 75

The one in the ultimate stage of life (vānaprasta = forest dwelling), the family man, the mendicant (sanyāsi), the one that riles the Guru out of ignorance, the one meditating without impartation of manmtra by the Guru, the one who drinks alcohol, the one who steals gold too will be, undoubtedly, freed from such gthatly sins by reciting this mantra twice. (75)

मन्त्रस्योच्चारणेनैव विद्रवंत्यघसंचया:
आवृत्या षट्सहस्रस्य सर्वव्याधिहरं परम्।। 76

The one knowingly falls into bad company, who desires the Guru’s wife, who causes abortion, who absues the Guru, who kills a friend, who deceives the Guru will definitely be freed from the effect of such sins, if the mantra is recited thrice. (76)

भूतप्रेतपिशाचोग्रभेतालब्रह्मराक्षसा:
अष्टोत्तरशतावृत्त्या-व्याधय: पूर्वसम्भवा:।। 77

All the sins (pāpas) will be lost by just uttering (ucchāraņa) it. Every disease will be removed by six thousand repetitions of the mantra process. (77)

ऐकाहिकं च द्वयहिकं त्रयाहिकं चतुराहिकम्
मासिकं ज्वरमत्युगंः सहस्रावृत्तिमात्रत:।। 78

By its recitation 108 times, ill effects of every type of spirits, ghosts, demonesses and very old ailments will go away. (78)

क्षयापस्मारकुष्ठार्श भगन्दरमहोदरा:
कर्णनेत्रोद्भवान्रोगान्सहस्रावृत्तितो हरेत्।। 79

If the mantra procedure is repeated 100 times, all fevers – 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day and even the horrible 1-month long fevers will end. (79)

इत: परन्तु देवेशि विस्तरेण मयोच्यते
यन्त्रांगं मूलमन्त्रांग पव्म्चवक्त्रहनूमत:
मूलमन्त्रव्म्च वक्त्व्यं यन्त्रपूणार्थमादरात्।। 80

Tuberculosis, unconsciousness, leprosy, anal fissure, big-belly, ailments of ears and eyes can be abated by 1000 repetitions of the mantra process. (80)

The mater hereafterwards is being explained now. The actual order of explanation is the amulet (yantra) preceded by its procedure, the procedure of the moola (root) mantra, and then the Hanumanmālāmantra have to be explained.

NOTE: However, to avoid increasing the size of this work, only the root (moolam) of the malamantra is being given here. Details can be seen in the 25th Chapter of the original Parāśara Samhitā.
